ICT
Edexcel Pearson Digital Functional Skills - Entry 3 and Level 1
Functional ICT at Knowl Hill School focuses on equipping students with practical digital skills to enhance their independence, communication, and learning. It provides a tailored approach to technology, ensuring students can access, understand, and use digital tools in everyday life.
By incorporating assistive technologies, adaptive software, and real-world applications, Functional ICT helps students develop essential skills such as online safety, basic coding, word processing, and digital communication. These skills empower them to engage confidently in education, social interactions, and future employment opportunities.
In an SEN setting, ICT is not just about using computers—it’s about breaking down barriers, fostering inclusion, and preparing students for a technology-driven world.
We can offer Functional Skills at Entry 3 and Level 1 dependent on individual pupil ability.
What are Digital Functional Skills?
Digital Functional Skills is a new qualification aimed at demonstrating a learner’s digital skills at Entry 3 and Level 1
Digital Functional Skills qualifications should fulfil the following purposes:
- Provide reliable evidence of a student’s achievements against content that is relevant to the workplace and real life.
- Provide assessment of a student’s knowledge and skills as well as their ability to apply these in different contexts.
- Provide a foundation for progression into employment or further education and develop skills for everyday life.
Both levels will have an externally set and marked onscreen / online assessment which will be available on demand. The assessments will be pass / fail in line with the other Functional Skills qualifications.
