The Duke of Edinburgh
At Knowl Hill School, we are delighted to offer students the chance to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award at bronze level. The DofE Award is a prestigious youth award that is highly recognized throughout the country and involves physical activities, skill development, volunteering, and two expeditions in order to achieve the award.
Why Join the Duke of Edinburgh's Award?
Through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme, students have fun, improve their self-esteem and build confidence. They gain essential skills and attributes for work and life including, resilience, problem-solving, team working, communication skills and drive. Completing all four sections of the award is highly regarded by employers, universities, and colleges, highlighting a well-rounded and committed individual.
Students who choose to participate will complete the Bronze Award. The Bronze Award is for students aged 14 and above, and consists of:
- Volunteering – 3 months – giving time to help people, the community/society, the environment or animals
- Physical – 3 months – choose any sport, dance or fitness activity
- Skills – 3 months – for their skills, students need to choose an activity that will allow them to prove that they have broadened their understanding and increased their expertise in the4ir chosen activity
- Expedition – Plan, train and complete a 2 day/1night expedition. Students will spend an additional 3 months in one of the volunteering, physical or skills section to complete the Bronze Award.
