Safeguarding
At Know Hill School, safeguarding is our highest priority. We want to ensure that all children are safe, happy and secure at all times.
Knowl Hill Safeguarding Policy Statement
The welfare of the child is paramount, and safeguarding all members of our school community underpins everything that we do. We recognise that children have a right to feel safe and secure, they cannot learn effectively unless they do so. All children have a right to be protected from harm and abuse.
We recognise that all staff have a role in the prevention of harm and abuse and an equal responsibility to act immediately on any suspicion or disclosure that may indicate a child is at risk of harm. With this in mind, all members of staff receive regular training in identifying and raising child protection concerns, dealing appropriately with disclosures, and handling sensitively issues around online safety, sexual health and appropriate relationships, and drugs and alcohol awareness.
Prevent Prevent is part of the UK government’s counter-terrorism strategy, CONTEST. Its aim is to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.
From 1st July, the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015 places a statutory duty on specified authorities to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. The strategy involves thousands of people – police and intelligence officers, the emergency services, local authorities, businesses, voluntary and community organisations, governments and other partners – working in together across the UK and the world to protect the public
Parents/Carers
Parents and carers play a role in safeguarding children in their community. If you have any concerns about your own child, or another, please do not hesitate to contact one of our Safeguarding Leads or send an email to the school’s safeguarding team: safeguarding@khs.education.

Students
If you have a problem or concern in school or at home you can report it to a member of staff or use the following email: safeguarding@khs.education
When to report?
- You or a friend are being bullied
- You are concerned for a friend’s welfare
- A student, member of staff, or parent has behaved inappropriately
- You need to talk to someone about a problem
- Mental health worries
We want everyone in our school to feel safe, supported, and heard. That’s why we also use Whisper – an anonymous reporting tool that lets students share concerns quickly, securely, and anonymously if needed.
Whisper is a safe and anonymous way for you to report anything that’s worrying you – whether it affects you directly or someone else. It connects directly with our safeguarding team, who will review and respond to every message received
How It Works
You can send a message using the Whisper link below or text your concern directly to our confidential Whisper number.
You do not need to give your name unless you choose to. All messages are seen only by our safeguarding team. All concerns are taken seriously and treated with respect.

Is It Really Anonymous?
Yes — if you want it to be. Whisper allows you to report something without giving your name, unless you choose to include it. Your message will go straight to the school’s safeguarding tea,, who will take appropriate action
Even if you stay anonymous, we will still investigate and follow up the concern.
If you don’t want to use Whisper, that’s okay. You can also speak to a trusted adult in school.
Remember:
Speaking up is never wrong. Whether you use Whisper or another way to reach out, we’re here to help.
When to report?
- Anytime, though please note that the school safeguarding email and Whisper is not monitored 24/7.
- If you are concerned that you or your friend is in a harmful situation outside of school hours, call Childline on 08001111, as they will be able to give you immediate advice and support. You can then use the Knowl Hill email to let us know what is happening so we can follow up with support from school.
- It you feel in immediate danger or are at risk of harm – call the police on 999
