Preparation for Leaving - Post-16 Destinations
Weekly PFL sessions are run by OT and SLT in year 11. The aim is to help to prepare students for transition to their next placement and for them to be actively involved in the transition process.
The sessions focus on a range of topics including the choices available post 16, the college application process, similarities and differences between school and post 16, and developing key skills and strategies for college/post 16 (e.g., organisation, email skills).
Students also complete a Language and Learning Passport with their OT and SLT. This provides a summary of the student’s strengths, needs and support strategies and can be shared with the next placement to aid transition.
