Therapy Streams

We offer 3 different Therapy Streams: Language Stream (LS), OT Stream (OTS) and Combined Therapy Stream (CTS).

Due to the increased provision, there is an additional cost for the three therapy streams.

Language Stream

The Knowl Hill Language Stream, which runs throughout the school, provides additional support for those students who have a higher level of speech and language therapy (SLT) needs. 

They are timetabled to receive the following SLT input:

• 2 x 30 minutes individual SLT sessions per week. (Paired sessions may be scheduled, if the target would be better met via this format.)
• Additional small groups and class based interventions as timetabled for the year groups
• up to 60 mins input with Therapy Assistant. This may be class based, group or 1:1.

There is close liaison between teaching staff and therapists to enable students to access the curriculum and to develop their independence, communication skills, friendships and self-esteem

OT Stream

The Knowl Hill Occupational Therapy (OT) Stream provides targeted and structured support for students with a higher level of occupational therapy needs. This includes support for physical, sensory (including emotional regulation), and functional life skills development.

Students within the OT Stream are timetabled to receive the following input:

• One 30-minute individual OT session per week
• Additional small group and class-based interventions aligned with the year group timetable
• Up to 90 minutes of additional OT input per week with either an Occupational Therapist or Therapy Assistant, delivered in class, small groups, or 1:1 settings

There is close collaboration between teaching staff and the Occupational Therapy team to ensure that students can access the curriculum effectively, while also supporting the development of their independence, fine and gross motor skills, and sensory regulation.

The Combined Therapy Stream 

This is for students who require both Language Stream and OT Stream provision.
